Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is an upcoming Bollywood mystery thriller film directed by Dibakar Banerjee. The movie is set for release on February 26, 2015. It stars Sushant Singh Rajput as the titular protagonist, a detective living in 1940s Calcutta under British rule.The film's soundtrack was composed by Sneha Khanwalkar who worked on it with Banerjee for more than two years before the first trailer of the movie released online on December 12, 2014 which garnered positive reviews from fans of Bollywood music even before its release. The first song of the movie, "Take It - Sneha Khanwalkar" has been released on YouTube on November 3, 2014. As the movie's trailer was released online, a song from the movie "Aa Ra Ra Ra Ra" was leaked online and it contains lyrics such as ""It is I - or somebody else"" and ""If I am not something else if I am not somebody else"". The full version of this song was officially released by Sneha Khanwalkar on YouTube on September 20, 2014. The second song, "Beat Box" which was also released in the trailer was composed by Sneha Khanwalkar and she described it as "a funky, hip hop-inspired folk music song". The full version of the third song titled "Brahma" was released on YouTube by Sneha Khanwalkar on November 3, 2014. She also introduced another new creative song titled "Jalebi Haath Badla Hoon". The other four songs were leaked online prior to its official release by Sneha Khanwalkar. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Dibakar Banerjee disclosed that the name of the movie was inspired from a song in Satyajit Ray's "Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne", a Bengali classic. He further added that "The music album has been in progress for a while, and I can’t wait for people to hear it. It’s somewhere between the hardboiled and experimental music genres". The film's soundtrack was released along with its first look poster on November 21. The theatrical trailer of the movie was released on December 7, 2014. It is also known for being India's first detective film in color and 3D format. Before the film was officially announced, it created much hype because people believed that the director would cast Saif Ali Khan as Byomkesh Bakshi. Even before the announcement of the cast, people speculated that it could be Ranbir Kapoor. The film saw its first filming schedule in Kolkata which included a song sequence featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and Anand Tiwari. The second schedule of filming took place in Agra and Meerut where a full-fledged fight scene was shot which required more than 50 junior artists and 150 stunt artists to shoot with Sushant Singh Rajput performing some death-defying stunts.
